Aston Villa Intensifies Efforts to Sign Espanyol Goalkeeper

Aston Villa is intensifying its efforts to sign the young Espanyol goalkeeper Juan Garcia during the summer transfer window, as the club seeks to strengthen the goalkeeper position, according to the website “CaughtOffside”.

Coach Unai Emery is looking for a strong replacement for backup goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who will leave the team at the end of the season, while Emiliano Martinez remains the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Villa Park.

Garcia is 23 years old and has delivered impressive performances this season with Espanyol, keeping a clean sheet in 7 out of 32 matches in La Liga, and he has the third-highest save percentage behind Oblak and Courtois.

The Spanish goalkeeper’s contract includes a release clause of 25 million euros, which could rise to 30 million euros if he is called up to the national team or if additional conditions are met.

According to reports, Aston Villa’s sporting director has recently been closely monitoring the player during Espanyol’s match against Villarreal, and it is said that the club is ready to activate the release clause to secure the goalkeeper’s signing.

Garcia’s standout performances have also caught the attention of other major clubs, such as Manchester United, which is also looking for a potential replacement for Andre Onana.
