Atletico Madrid considers Argentine Cristian Romero, Tottenham Hotspur defender, one of its main targets, according to journalist Ben Jacobs on Sunday.
He pointed out that Argentine Diego Simeone, the head coach of the Rojiblancos, is leading this effort to sign his compatriot from the English club.
As for Romero, the 2022 World Cup champion with the Tango dancers is also interested in joining Atletico under Simeone’s leadership.
Jacobs mentioned that Romero’s market value has decreased since the summer of 2024, but it remains significant as Atletico Madrid prepares to make a £40 million offer to acquire the player.
