Araujo Sparks Controversy Again, Does He Fit Flick’s Style at Barcelona?

Araujo had seriously considered leaving for Juventus during the winter transfer window after struggling with a long-term injury and finding it difficult to regain his place in the starting lineup, especially with coach Hans Flick relying on the impressive duo Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.
Despite staying and renewing his contract, Araujo stipulated the inclusion of a clause allowing him to leave at the end of the season, and although he has participated more recently, he has not managed to establish himself as a key option.
Against Dortmund, Flick decided to rest Martinez and fielded Araujo alongside Pau Cubarsi, but the Uruguayan defender made several mistakes, the most notable being a misplaced pass that led to German pressure, and another error that resulted in a goal for Gerasi.
The newspaper “AS” reported that Araujo struggles with executing the offside trap and playing the ball out, unlike Cubarsi and Inigo, while he excels in individual duels and defensive interventions.
The debate continues within the corridors of the Catalan club regarding Araujo’s suitability for Flick’s playing style, at a time when the team is striving to achieve a historic treble this season.
