We Focus on Our Own Journey, and We Want to Give the Cup to Our Fans

Milan’s coach, Sergio Conceição, clarified in press statements before his team’s anticipated match against Inter Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final that the motivation for the Rossoneri does not come from trying to destroy their neighbor’s dream, but from hard work and internal motivation within the team.

Conceição affirmed that the team is entirely focused on their own journey and is not preoccupied with gaining any advantages from their competitors’ failures. He said in the press conference on Tuesday: “Our motivation does not come from our opponents, but from our own work. We are solely focused on preparing ourselves to deliver the best possible performance in the match.”

He added: “Inter is participating in many competitions, and they are accustomed to that just as we are. Players recover quickly these days. I watched their match against Bologna, and they have great quality and depth in their squad.”

Regarding the condition of his players, Conceição revealed that both Kyle Walker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will participate in the match despite not being at their best physical condition after recovering from injuries, and he confirmed: “They trained fully with the team today, and they will be present in the match, but they are not in their best physical state.”

On the expected formation for the match, Conceição said: “We always add a fifth element to our defense, whether it is Moussa or Jimenez, depending on the flow of the match and the opponent’s playing style. We need to exploit their weaknesses and be cautious of their strengths.”

Conceição added that this match represents great importance for Milan, stating: “Tomorrow’s match is the most important for us. We want to deliver an exceptional performance and give our fans the cup. We need to be at our best competitive level.”

He continued: “Since the beginning of the season, we have been looking to win all the competitions we participate in, but now our full focus is on the Coppa Italia. We need to give everything we have to achieve victory.”

At the end of his statements, Conceição confirmed that he would not discuss the evaluation of Milan’s season in general until the end of the season, stating: “I will talk about the season after it ends, and I will discuss what we have achieved in terms of successes and what we could have improved.”
