Chelsea Obligated to Purchase Sancho from Manchester United

The British newspaper “The Sun” reported that Chelsea has become obligated to purchase their English winger Jadon Sancho from Manchester United for £25 million, after activating the mandatory clause in the loan agreement between the two parties.

Sancho moved to Chelsea on loan during the summer of 2024, and he has participated in 27 matches in the Premier League this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists, despite going through a goal drought that lasted 16 consecutive matches.

Sancho’s loan turned into a mandatory purchase due to Chelsea’s recent victory against Fulham with a score of 2-1 in the closing minutes of the 33rd round of the Premier League.

Chelsea had agreed with Manchester United to activate the purchase clause for Sancho if the team finished the season in the Premier League within the positions from 1 to 15, which was officially confirmed after the win over Fulham.

The newspaper also indicated that Chelsea can withdraw from the deal, but in this case, they would have to pay a penalty of £5 million to Manchester United.
