Power Outage in Spain Disrupts Laporta’s Plans

The widespread power outage that hit Spain today, Monday, has disrupted the plans of Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, as he failed to travel to support the youth team against Trabzon in the European Youth League final.

The Barcelona U19 team was preparing to face Turkish side Trabzon in the Swiss city of Nyon at the Clovray Sports Center, in a crucial match in the European championship.

According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Laporta was heading to Barcelona airport to support the team in the anticipated match, but the power outage caused widespread traffic paralysis and disrupted train and subway services, preventing him from reaching the airport.

The power outage had a significant impact on many vital sectors in Spain and some areas of Portugal and France, as transportation came to a halt and some universities and businesses were closed.

It is worth noting that this is the third time Barcelona has reached the final of the European Youth League, having won the title in 2014 and 2018.
