Barcelona’s Opponent in Case of Real Madrid’s Withdrawal from the Cup Final

Real Madrid is demanding a change of the refereeing crew for the clásico, following what happened in the press conference held by the on-field referee and the video assistant referee on the sidelines of the final.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport,” if Real Madrid withdraws from the Copa del Rey final, the rules of the Spanish Football Federation do not grant Barcelona the title.
The newspaper added that Barcelona will play the final against Real Sociedad, which is the opponent that Real Madrid eliminated from the tournament’s semi-finals.
In the event of Real Madrid’s withdrawal, the rules of the Spanish Football Federation stipulate granting Real Madrid participation in the next edition of the tournament.
On-field referee De Burgos broke down in tears during the press conference due to the criticism referees are facing, in addition to the reports published by Real Madrid’s channel against referees and officiating, while video assistant referee Gonzales Fuertes confirmed that they will take legal action against Real Madrid in a hostile tone.
