Al-Hilal Management Refused to Extend My Contract

Abdullah Al-Maiouf, the current goalkeeper for Al-Shabab, revealed the details of his departure from Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 and his transfer to Al-Ittihad.

Al-Maiouf left Al-Hilal in the summer 2023 transfer window and then donned the Al-Ittihad jersey last season before joining Al-Shabab.

Al-Maiouf stated in his remarks: “I achieved everything during my journey with Al-Hilal, and before the end of my contract by one season, I received an offer from Al-Ittihad, and then I spoke with the management and requested an extension for an additional season, until 2025.”

He added: “Al-Hilal management rejected my request, and I felt that my opportunity was dwindling, so I decided to move to Al-Ittihad because I have a desire to play regularly.”

He continued: “I did not receive a renewal offer from Al-Hilal; I had one year left and wanted to stay, and my contract ends in 2024. I requested to extend it until 2025, and I decided to accept Al-Ittihad’s offer, as I did not receive any other offers.”

Regarding his opinion on the current Al-Hilal coach, he said: “There is nothing between me and the Portuguese Jorge Jesus, but I see him as a one-season coach only.”
