Al Ahly Deserves a Penalty in the Al Wahda Match

Former Egyptian referee Essam Abdel Fattah confirmed Al Ahly’s right to receive a penalty in the match against Al Wahda that took place yesterday, Tuesday.

Al Ahly won against Al Wahda with a score of 3-2 in a match held as part of the 29th round of the Saudi Professional League.

Essam Abdel Fattah stated in television comments: “In the 32nd minute of the first half, the English forward Ivan Toney, of Al Ahly, fell inside the penalty area due to a clear pull by one of Al Wahda’s defenders.”

He added: “It is true that the pull occurred from both sides, but the action of Al Wahda’s defender was significantly impactful, as it caused the English forward to fall to the ground, which warrants a penalty kick to be awarded.”

He concluded: “Toney was controlling the ball and trying to turn, but the Al Wahda player was an obstacle for him, so the law states that if both the attacker and the defender are engaged in mutual pulling, one must consider the player whose action is more impactful, hence it is a clear penalty that was not awarded to Al Ahly.”
