Al-Ahli Deserves a Penalty Against Al-Wahda

Former Egyptian referee Essam Abdel Fattah confirmed that Al-Ahli Saudi Club deserves a penalty in the match against Al-Wahda that was played yesterday, Tuesday.

Al-Ahli won against Al-Wahda with a score of 3-2 in a match held as part of the 29th round of the Saudi Professional League.

Essam Abdel Fattah said in television statements: “In the 32nd minute of the first half, English striker Ivan Toney of Al-Ahli fell inside the penalty area due to a clear pull from one of Al-Wahda’s defenders.”

He added: “It is true that the pull occurred from both sides, but the action of the Al-Wahda defender was significantly impactful, causing the English striker to fall to the ground, which warrants a penalty to be awarded.”

He concluded: “Toney was in control of the ball and trying to turn, but the Al-Wahda player was an obstacle for him. The law states that if the attacker and defender engage in mutual pulling, the more impactful action should be considered, hence it is a clear penalty that was not awarded to Al-Ahli.”
