Leeds United and Burnley are the First Promoted Teams to the Premier League

The identities of the first two teams promoted to the Premier League for the 2025/2026 season have been confirmed, following the results of the 44th round of the English Championship today, Monday.

Both Leeds United and Burnley successfully secured the two direct promotion spots to the Premier League, after achieving decisive victories, with Leeds crushing Stoke City 6-0, while Burnley defeated Sheffield United 2-1, bringing both teams’ points tally to 94, with Leeds leading on goal difference only.

With only two rounds remaining in the season, both teams have ensured their return to the Premier League, while the Championship title will be decided between them in the upcoming rounds.

On the other hand, Southampton and Leicester City have officially been relegated to the Championship after failing to remain in the Premier League this season.

In terms of competition for the third promotion spot, Sheffield United and Sunderland have confirmed their participation in the playoff qualifiers, with the identities of the other two teams participating in the playoff round to be determined in the next two rounds.
