Al-Ittihad Did Not Win Due to Refereeing Mistakes

Hamid Al-Muntashari, the former star of Al-Ittihad, confirmed that the club was the better side in the match against Al-Shabab that took place yesterday, Tuesday, in the King’s Cup semifinals.

The match ended with Al-Ittihad winning 3-2.

Al-Muntashari stated during the program “Dourina Ghair”: “The fans’ criticisms of the coach are unfounded; he is leading the Roshan League by 4 points over the second place, in addition to reaching the King’s Cup final.”

He added: “Laurent Blanc currently controls both tournaments, and the outcome of wins and losses is in his hands, so fans should support him in the upcoming period.”

He continued: “I respect Al-Shabab a lot, but Al-Ittihad did not win due to refereeing mistakes; they were not responsible for the referee’s selection, and I believe that the club performed excellently throughout the 90 minutes.”

He added: “In my opinion, Al-Ittihad was the better side in the match, as they wasted more than 6 chances, and refereeing mistakes are part of football.”

He concluded: “There were several factors that granted Al-Ittihad victory in the match, the most important being the fans, in addition to Laurent Blanc’s successful change in the situation when he brought in Saleh Al-Shehri in the 77th minute, as well as effectively utilizing set pieces.”
