5 Spots in Champions League for La Liga and Premier League Eyeing a Sixth

La Liga has secured an additional spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League after mathematically outperforming Serie A according to the UEFA ranking, making the representatives of La Liga 5 teams next season.

At the same time, the Premier League has secured 5 spots in the upcoming Champions League edition, but it has a historic opportunity to be the first league with 6 of its clubs participating in the tournament in a single season.

This comes after the Premier League topped the UEFA ranking for the current season based on its clubs’ performances in European competitions, earning one of the two additional spots granted by UEFA to the leagues finishing in first and second place.

Since the UEFA Europa League champion qualifies for the Champions League, there is a significant chance for an English team to qualify, as two English teams, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, are in the semifinals.
